  Try not to think of it as a sequel, but as a remake instead. And it's a remake that's fair game but doesn't exceed the hilarity of the original. That's the humongous flaw, it entirely lacks the element of surprise that the orignal film had. Despite more raunchiness and edginess, the stakes in this sequel/remake didn't feel the same because of it. Plus, the fact of predictability. It's not entirely that bad because it is pretty funny. But I felt I'd been taken advantage of when I finished watching it. Because i've been there and done it before. Essentialy, imagine the first Hangover turned up to 11 and much darker. It's what this mildly amusing but forgettable film is.

It'd have been more effective had it been a team work rather than just Alanland in action (and the rest inaction, so to speak). Nevertheless, Alanland itself alone provides a fair share of fun, and others' more or less contribution to it makes the visit worthwhile.

  Mr. Chow: We had a sick night bitches! "The Wolfpack Is Back" I didn't dislike this as much as everyone else. I actually enjoyed it, but I can't lie, it is a little disappointing. The laughs are still there, but mostly because of the nostalgia of the first movie. The cast is what keeps this film lively though. Ken Jeong and Zach Galifianakis are just fun to watch. Sure it isn't the original and it is disappointing, but it still is an okay, if copied, sequel. Plot details for this aren't important as you've already seen them in the first. The only real difference is that it takes place in Bangkok, not Vegas. Altogether, The Hangover: Part II suffers from being too much like the original, but the excellent comedic cast makes it go down a lot better than it should. They took some of the comedy to a higher level of rauncy and crude than they even touched in the first. For some this will be off putting to say the least. It's okay, just don't expect an instant comedy classic like the first. This is one of those forgettable comedies that we see every year. It just got panned more because it is the sequel to one of the best comedies in recent years.

My Thoughts: "Funny? Yes. Better then the first? No. But it was still enjoyable and a lot of fun. I don't know where they will go beyond this one if they decide to make a third. But I love these character's so I would definitely see it. I wish Jason Bartha had a bigger role and was included in their chaos. But it was still a good sequel as sequels go."

  Todd Phillips goes for a 2nd hangover, but <i>The Hangover Part II</i> suffers with its lack of surprises.<p>The flow of the story is as expected; a little setup followed by a whole lot of maniacal nonsense. There is actually a bunch that happens within the 100 minutes of screen time, although things feel quite linear when played out.</p><p>The humor tends to be overly crude at times, which really isn't for young eyes. It also hampers many of the would-be laughs; however, there is so much going on that it is hard not to find at least a few chuckles throughout the picture.</p><p>A bulk of the amusing antics that take place are at the expense of Ed Helms. The higher annoyance factors overshadow the comedy of Zach Galifianakis and Ken Jeong, although they are held somewhat in check. Bradley Cooper is more along for the ride here.</p><p><i>The Hangover Part II</i> has its moments. Just not enough to categorize it as a must see picture.</p>

  In trying to better the first film, the makers of The Hangover II forgot to inject the element of originality. I'm not saying they haven't been creative, it's just that the whole sequence of events became quite predictable and the shock tactics became a little less shocking each time. The overall story was fine as were the cast but I thought the ending was horrible. I also think Zach Galifianakis shelf-life is nearly up, unless he does something a bit different. The Hangover III - I don't think so.

  Introducing a much more darker and crueler subject, this sequence of the 2009 hit comedy, surprise the audience with the new style of comedy. But, The Hangover Part II looks more a copy of the previous picture in some scenes. In others scenes, the screenplay seems want impress more that make laugh. Anyway, Mr. Galifianakis and Mr. Jeong are really funny in a movie that is not so hilarious.

  Same exact concept, mostly the same hijinks, but not nearly the same payoff. That's The Hangover Part II in a nutshell. This time, the "wolf pack" ends up in Thailand for Stu's wedding, and once again things go horribly wrong and an entire night (and another person) are lost in a haze of substances, carnage, and bad behavior. And just like in the first movie, most of Part II is spent with the guys trying to piece together what happened the night before, get everyone back safe before the wedding, and just generally not die. This is a pretty unnecessary sequel, and it shows. It's just not early as funny as the first movie, the characters are less likable and more annoying, and the whole thing just feels stale.

  Before I get into great detail about this movie, I would like to point out that it's not a cinematic masterpiece, or a special effects extravaganza, The Hangover Part II is just a tremendously hilarious sequel, which in my opinion is the perfect summer movie that I think many audiences will enjoy. I can admit that many aspects of this movie are repeated from the first one, but this time they are presented much darker, meaner, and raunchier (especially the pictures at the end... they are freaking insane). It surprises me that critics are hating on this movie so much, it seems to me that they just don't know how to laugh! The Hangover Part II is a hilarious film and a great sequel that is highly rewatchable (even without Mel Gibson). Don't get me wrong, I didn't think that Todd Philips would be able to make another story. I guess I though that these characters wouldn't be stupid enough to get themselves into another insane situation like this again. In other words, I didn't think that The Hangover Part II was ever going to happen. Aside from that, I was glad to see Stu, Phil and Alan in another adventure, and of course Mr. Chow! I can't help but mention how much I loved Ken Jeong (Community) reprising his role as crimelord Mr. Chow. Chow is hilarious and brings a lot of wit to this movie with his memorable one liners and his mysteriously messed up personality. On a completely different note, I can't help but mention how much I love Jeong on NBC's Community. He is a great actor and if you watch the behind the scenes, you can tell that he takes acting very seriously and professionally while still having a good time on set. Personally, I am pretty glad that they brought him back again because how can you have a hangover without a Chow? The tone of this film is much darker than the previous one. Vegas is fun and a great party place, Bangkok is a wild and dangerous place full of silent monks and people with guns and (again) Mr. Chow (I'm probably mentioning Chow a little much). The darkness and raunchiness of this film honestly makes this much more enjoyable from my point of view. I know I'm going on and on about how good this movie is but I hate to admit it but I only have one complaint; what happened to Stu and the stripper? At the end of the first film Stu clearly says that he will call her... so why's up with this Lauren girl? I'd at least want a little prologue or explanation to what happened in between these movies and I've talked to people about this so I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. This is completely unrelated but I thought it was seriously hilarious that Zach Galifinakis banned his parents from seeing this movie. Considering what Alan does in the middle of the film it doesn't surprise me but it was interesting seeing that on the news. Overall, The Hangover Part II is a great sequel that I highly recommend.

  A film that honestly seems as though it was written about 30 minutes after the original. Honestly, no thought nor effort has gone into this turd. It plays on the assumption that using the exact same jokes from the first film, and using more of what was popular, is a good idea for a film. That is never a good idea. It's simply lazy. Since DVDs, the internet and streaming have come into play, you'd expect companies to try something drastically new. I don't want to see another version of the 1st film. I can see the 1st film easily enough. The actors are all on autopilot, probably just enjoying the free vacation to Thailand. If this was a 10-20 year reunion film, I could excuse the repetitive nature, and needless cameos, but the original is fresh in my mind, and also a lot damn funnier.

  How Todd Phillips was walking straight while making this film is anyone's guess. The man, along with his fellow writers, must have been on their own drunken bender while conceiving this familiar, simple stupor. THE HANGOVER PART II is an insult to paying film-goers using their money for entertainment. Delivering a tale already read, but with a different setting, THE HANGOVER PART II is a carbon copy of its predecessor in story catalyst, plot movement, final resolution, and even simple dynamics. It is a lazy, mumbling mess with worsening intentions. Plenty has been written about the movie's complete lack to introduce new elements to a singular, one-time story, but through its blatant alterations in trying to trick an audience into believing that they are watching a different movie, it becomes an insult. Instead of a baby, there is now a monkey; instead of a missing tooth, there is now a face tattoo; instead of trading for a missing friend from a mobster, there is now trading for a missing soon-to-be-Brother-in-law; instead of rufilin in drinks, there is now - you get the idea. When "part II" is labelled on a film title, it generally proves to be a continuation, not a refresher. But what makes THE HANGOVER PART II truly bad is in the simplest fact that it is just not funny. Like the out-of-place lead trio, everything in the movie feels out of place. Its humour is misaligned and crude for the sake of it, it is extreme in trying to make an audience flinch, and it often borders on cultural and ethical jokes without taste. While its predecessor pushed average-Joes as absurd partying stars with a greater intent, this successor pushes these average men into cardboard fools.

Wisely deciding against a bachelor party, Stu joins his pals for a drink the night before the wedding...but they awake in a stupor in Bangkok, and have to piece together the events of their wild night to make it to the wedding in time. Added to the group this time: the conspicuous Mr. Chow (presumably for more laughs), and Lauren's apt little brother Teddy (presumably for another plot device). With essentially the same setup albeit a different location, this redundant sequel lacks the element of surprise and ingenious plotting of its predecessor, instead relying heavily on outrageously raunchy gags and ribald shock value. A chance to reunite with the characters that made the first so enjoyable, but it's never as fresh or funny as you'd like it to be.
